Dr. De Leon graduated from Cayetano Heredia University in Lima and completed his
residency in Psychiatry at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. He completed
a fellowship in Community Psychiatry at the Illinois State Psychiatric Institute,
and a fellowship in Neuropsychiatry at University of Illinois Hospital. He is Board
certified in the specialty of Psychiatry and the subspecialty of Psychosomatic Medicine.
He is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He was
the recipient of the Merton Gill Award for excellence in mentorship and teaching
presented by the graduating residents at the University of Illinois Department of
Psychiatry the years 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2006. He was also the recipient of the
Irma Bland Award for excellence in teaching residents presented by the American
Psychiatric Association in 2006. Dr. De Leon is Professor of Psychiatry and Director
of Clinical and Research Psychiatric Programs at the University of Illinois Hospital
in Chicago. |
