Margret S.H. Harris, MA
Fellow – Psychotic Disorders Program
Margret is a research fellow in the Psychotic Disorders Program where she
provides individual cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to patients in their
first episode of psychotic illness as well as psychoeducation services to
patient family members. She also conducts diagnostic and clinical assessments in
the First Episode Psychosis program, a specialty service of the Psychotic
Disorders Program.
Margret’s research interests have focused on investigating cognitive
dysfunction, such as response inhibition deficits, in treatment-naive
first-episode schizophrenia, psychotic bipolar disorder, and psychotic
depression patients. Using oculomotor paradigms, her studies aim to characterize
the neurophysiology underlying abnormal patient performance during acute phases
of illness and to investigate the effects of antipsychotic medications on
cognitive domains after clinical stabilization. More recently, she has been
involved in the development of software for the analysis of event-related fMRI
data. Her newest research interest focuses on the comparison of CBT and a
psychoeducation intervention for the improvement of medication adherence in
early schizophrenia.
